Henry A. (Hal) Thomas, P.E.
Mr. Thomas is telecom industry executive with 25+ year’s large scale infrastructure engineering & operations experience. His background is BSEE from Texas A&M University, BSLaw and JD, Northwestern California University School of Law, and Advanced Management Program #61, Wharton School of Business. Mr. Thomas is a licensed Professional Engineer (Texas), member of The State Bar of California, and is a registered patent attorney and currently practices patent, trademark and copyright law in addition to engineering consulting in Frisco, Texas.

Mr. Thomas began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone (Dallas 1985) in mobile telecommunications. He worked for Ericsson (1987-1990) where he developed the initial concepts and techniques utilized for network engineering and capacity planning for cellular networks. He also was program lead for Ericsson’s first network rip & replace in Tampa, Florida. Afterwards, Mr. Thomas transferred to Los Angeles Cellular Telephone Company (1991-1992), an Ericsson market, where he served as Manager, Advanced Technology and later Director, Engineering. Returning to the Dallas area in 1992, Mr. Thomas launched a successful consulting business serving wireless and wireline operators across the USA, and OEMs clients including Ericsson, Nortel and Alcatel. This diverse company provided engineering, manufacturing, consulting services to large scale infrastructure clients in addition to internal operations for company owned and operated data centers, microwave and fiber networks in 62 offices throughout 26 states.

Most recently, Mr. Thomas held executive roles at Ericsson and Samsung Telecommunications of America. At Ericsson, Mr. Thomas held the position of Vice President, Radio Access Competence Domain, a segment of the Engineering & Operations Professional Services Business Unit. Here, Mr. Thomas had oversight of new product introduction, engineering & operations for the RAN segment within North America. Notable programs included At&t 3G expansion, LTE deployment, iPhone & iPad launch & optimization in addition to LTE deployment for MetroPCS, T-Mobile, Verizon, Rogers Canada and other North American customers. Mr. Thomas also provided leadership for the Nortel CDMA RAN segment acquisition and integration, Ericsson's GSDC integration and was a member of the Sprint Network Advantage solution development team and later implementation with the assimilation of Sprint's RAN engineering team to the competence domain he managed. Mr. Thomas also developed and implemented the Global Competence Center start-up whereby remote delivery was established from India and Mexico City to support At&t, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Rogers and other North American customers of RAN Professional Services. Mr. Thomas then transitioned to Samsung where he held the position of Senior Vice President, Operations WNS, heading the turn-around and recovery of Network Vision Project for Samsung for the Sprint CDMA to LTE deployment and network modernization.

Today, Mr. Thomas is a practicing patent attorney and engineering consultant in Frisco, Texas assisting various companies with competence development, knowledge transfer and professional service solutions applicable with Mexico, the US and other areas across Latin and South America.
